An old friend asked me about an old song with a one-word name – who sang it? – and of course I knew straight away, because everything's connected – the time, the place, the feeling, the memories. I hadn't listened to it for a while, but the nostalgia punched me in the guts the same way it always did.

I thanked them for the reminder.

A day later, I wondered if I should ask how/what the song made them felt, but the fear of being overly nosy stopped me – I'll continue to care from afar, and let it go.
